Musical Improv Workshop
Learn the skills you need to make up a musical on the spot! This 3-hour workshop will give you the tools to turn your thoughts and feelings into songs on the spot, with expert guidance from Ilan Kaplan and Dan Reitz, two veterans in the field. This workshop is accessible for newcomers to improv and music, and great practice for actors and improvisers with experience.

Dan Reitz is a musician, composer, educator, comedy professional, and media producer rooted in Buffalo, New York and New York City.
In Buffalo he is the founder and creative director of Buffalo Improv House and is on the music faculty at SUNY University at Buffalo.
As a composer he has written & produced music for Netflix Animation, international ad campaigns, and the podcasts Serial, Crimetown, and This American Life.
He is musical director and pianist for Your Love, Our Musical, Baby Wants Candy, Shamilton, VERN, and many other musical comedy shows. He has performed internationally including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, at Improv Iceland, and throughout North America as both a comedy music director and as a jazz trombone player. He has taught at Princeton University, Sarah Lawrence College, and was a K-12 teacher for the better part of eight years.
Ilan Kaplan is an actor and improviser based in Ithaca, NY. He has coached improv for house improv teams in NYC, countless businesses and school groups, and local Ithaca improv theater, Third Place Theater. He taught a weekly improv class at Meta, taught a class to Punkie Johnson (SNL) and once improvised a song with Willem DaFoe.
